Midwest Missile Tour

2012 Midwest Missile Tour Breakdown: Part Three

We get a much needed off-day in Chicago to explore the city, see Wrigley Field, have some pizza and relax in the Windy City!  I’m sure some beer will be consumed as well.  Then, back to the road we go as we head west to Des Moines and up north to Minnesota, home of our label, New Folk Records

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15 – DES MOINES, IA – VAUDEVILLE MEWS
We were lucky to land a really cool venue on a Wednesday night in Vaudeville Mews. They were also one of the first places to respond to us, so kudos to Vaudeville.  After talking to Jon, who manages a handful of Midwest acts, we put together an awesome show with two of his local bands, country act The Robby Michael Band, and pop punkers KICK.  Hopefully we have a chance to see the capital a little bit then show the Iowans some American Fiddle Rock

THURSDAY, AUGUST 16 – LA CROSSE, WIBODEGA BREW PUB
One of the more popular Midwest Celtic Rock bands we hoping to play with was the Wild Colonial Bhoys.  Well, our schedules lined up just right for them to join us in La Crosse at the Bodega Brew Pub.  Wisconsin – Beer – American Fiddle Rock – Wild Colonial Bhoys…sounds like a good time to me!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 17 – ST. PAUL, MN – SHAMROCKS
We now arrive in Minnesota, home of our label New Folk Records!  The Langer’s Ball, who also has worked with New Folk, was definitely one of the first bands we contacted to set up some shows while we were in the Twin Cities area.   We were able to land a rowdy little Irish pub in St. Paul on a Friday nigh.   Part of this tour is to meet other musicians and hopefully play some songs together.  This show with Langer’s Ball fits that goal just right!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 18 – MINNEAPOLIS, MN – CHEAPO RECORDS (IN-STORE SHOW)
Sometimes we will play acoustic shows that we call “Lexington Field Lite”.  Well, Ken from New Folk Records booked us an in-store acoustic show at a local record store called Cheapo Records.  We have done these in the past with mix results, but every show counts so, Lexington Field Lite it is!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 18 – MINNEAPOLIS, MN – FINE LINE MUSIC CAFE
Minneapolis is the home of our label, New Folk Records, who put out both “Old Dirt Road”and “Poor Troubled Life”.  So we made our Minneapolis show one of the focal points of the whole Midwest Missile Tour.  Not only that, but joining us will be two other bands who have worked with New Folk – The Langer’s Ball and Hounds of Finn, and a local folk rock group The Union Suits.   We are super excited to play with some amazing bands, at a really cool venue as we reach the peak of the tour!
